Reflection on my Scene Remake assignment
For my scene remake assignment, I was asked to either remake a scene or create a parody counterpart to it. The remake of the scene had to be filmed and published publically on Youtube and placed into my online final portfolio. The scene had to be at least a minute long and had to have had a story line.
The scene that I chose to remake was a scene in the controversially hilarious show called Sex and the City. The remake scene was of Samantha Jones, a hyper-sexual forty-something PR agent, getting an HIV test. In this subtly hilarious scene, Samantha Jones is being interview by a doctor, asking her about her sex life. In my spin off the scene, I picked two of my closest friends to depict Samantha Jones and the doctor. I also employed another one of my friends to be the camera girl and chose to film in the living room of my dorm. Before the filming, I constructed a copy of the same dialogue in the scene and had my actors study them. And after a few bloopers and laughs, we got done in an hour. All I had to do was cut, edit, and piece together everything on Windows Movie Maker.
What I’ve learned by doing this assignment was working with Windows Movie Maker and editing. The first thing I did was transfer everything unto my computer. Then I just plugged in all of the scenes my camera girl shot. I did want an intro with music, so I created a slide to introduce the scene and downloaded the sex and the city theme song and had it fade in and out in the beginning. After the song fades out, my scenes begin—which I carefully put together through cutting and editing. At the end, I did the same thing that I did at the beginning; I had an conclusion slide with the theme song fading in and out.
